6 steps to recreate yourself
There are many times in life when we might wish we were someone else, or somewhere else or doing something else, wanting to stop, change and start afresh. The good news is if you are thinking I’d like to restart things and recreate my life, you can, you can recreate yourself in both small and large ways that can make big waves rippling throughout all areas of your life.
It is however important to be crystal clear on what you are wanting to achieve or who you want to become. What is that vision of yourself that you are chasing and how will you act, behave, feel etc.
The simple act of recreating yourself with a new and improved image, can empower you, sky rocketing your self worth which will help you realise some of your biggest goals and aspirations.
Recreating yourself can be quite difficult, especially if you have put lots of hurdles on your path so it often requires a lot of discipline and focused energy.
Here are a few tips to help you get started in the process of recreating yourself:
• List what you want to become
You will need a crystal clear vision of what you are to become. So writing it down and look at it regularly until you can almost recite if off by heart. You can start by writing down a list of the things you want to become and goals you want to achieve. Visualise the life you want and write it down like a scene from a film. This will help you to keep those targets in mind and focus on how to get there.
List:
- what qualities do you want to develop?
- what job do you want?
- how much money etc.
- what passions do you want to explore?
• List what you want to let go of
Alongside the list of those things you want to become it is also extremely helpful to write a list down of those things you want to get rid of or change in your life. This will help you to pin point those areas in your life which aren’t working out for you and highlight those areas you need to change the most.
Make a list of all the things you don’t like and be honest with yourself. Are you being too critical? Not critical enough?
Once you’ve done this another good tip is to choose something on the list to change within 48 hours. For example, if you are unsatisfied at work, start sprucing up your CV and looking at other job advertisements. By doing this you will see that it’s possible to tackle those bigger targets.
• Learn to love yourself
Fundamentally within this process you need to start loving yourself, just the way you are. This process isn’t about running away from yourself. It is about 100% accepting who you are and then developing yourself to your fullest potential. Now if you are not happy with your weight or ” ” (fill in the blank) then thats absolutely possible to change but make sure before you start that you have an accurate self image. Don’t try to be what the “media/family/partner/bully” thinks you should be or portray’s as “healthy” only set goals that can develop you to your fullest potential and if you don’t feel that being “you” is good enough then the first step is to focus on loving yourself just as you are, before you embark on a “change” plan. You must accept and love yourself, forgive yourself and others, building the a solid foundation for your success.
Just because you want to recreate yourself doesn’t mean you should dislike yourself as you currently are. Accept and acknowledge your flaws and feelings; these are part of the things which make you you. Once you’ve done this you will start to love and appreciate who you are and it will give you the confidence boost you need to make those difficult changes in your life and become the person you want to be.
• Schedule time to work on yourself
It’s always a good idea to have a schedule for the week ahead; this will help you keep on top of all those things you need to achieve each week. So it’s good practice to start scheduling in some time each day to work on yourself and tackle some of those negative things you listed and start changing them. By having it scheduled you will be able to actively work towards your set goals, one day at a time.
• Be grateful for the small things
I have found that gratitude is one of the best ways of improving my life and changing my situation. Therefore I actively spend time as often as I can being and feeling grateful for the things I have.
I believe gratitude sow’s what you want to reap and as I believe that I will reap what I sow, purposefully being grateful for the things I have and the things I would love to have is a great way of creating them in my life.
Take some time each day to appreciate the small things in life you might not normally pay attention to. Stop and look at a normal scene of your life and actively look for something to appreciate, it could be a simple as a gentle breeze or a friendly smile, savour a delicious piece of chocolate cake or your every day items that you are grateful for (a pen, clothes, shoes, books etc.). Appreciating these small things in life will make you more grateful for what you have around you and help you to focus in on the positive which draws more positive things to you as like attracts like.
You can use these tips as the perfect foundation for recreating yourself and becoming the person you always wanted to be, to achieve those things you always dreamed of doing.
Good luck and here’s to your goals!
With love
