Welcome to ‘Conscious Transformation,’ the podcast dedicated to empowering you to consciously create the life you desire. I’m [Your Name], and I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey of growth, healing, and powerful change. In our first episode, I want to share my personal story with you – a story of overcoming immense challenges and transforming my life against all odds. My hope is that by sharing my journey, you’ll feel inspired and empowered to create your own path to transformation.
I grew up in a family where generational trauma and unresolved issues were part of everyday life. This created an unhealthy and unfortunately all too common dynamic, where you can see the dynamics of Complex PTSD play out that deeply affected both me and my brother as we grew up as the polar opposites, often pitted off against each other. Focusing purely on my story, I struggled with a total lack of a sense of self which meant no self-love and no self-worth. As a child I was the black sheep of the family but this later shifted.
My early years were marked by frequent illness and a battle with severe chronic fatigue syndrome. Bedridden for three years, I was unable to read, write, or communicate well. But during this time, I found solace in meditation, which helped me start rewiring my brain towards health. This experience, though incredibly challenging, set the foundation for my journey of healing and self-discovery.
After recovering, life threw more challenges my way. At 16, I was groomed and abused, and eventually became a single mother. This new chapter was daunting, but it also ignited an unyielding drive in me to build a better life for my child. I worked tirelessly, often facing further assaults and hardships within these repeating cycles because I had yet to learn to love and protect myself. But through it all, I learned that taking responsibility for my life was the key to change.
As I moved forward, I found external success through a lot of hard work and determination and built a life I once only dreamed of. It wasn’t until I had achieved the goals that I had set out to achieve in my life that I found the space to do the deep inner work. I faced my past traumas, healed from years of chronic stress, and learned to love myself. I had previously learned that our beliefs set our limits, and with the right mindset, we can achieve anything we set our minds to, but this time I was able to shine a light on the blindspots, the relentless drive which was not healthy, the lack of self love which I was too entrenched in to see and was given a few more hurdles to navigate through as I started to find myself, love myself and see my worth and place in the world. I had to learn to fight for myself, to be willing to communicate my needs, to feel anger, to feel worth fighting for and now having come to this destination I feel I can now share and help others on the same journey. I am sure this journey will be a never ending unfolding of more true and deeper truths, but I’ve come to the place where that is ok and I am happy with myself.
Today, I want to share some of the crucial lessons I’ve learned on this journey:
- Self-Love and Self-Worth: These are fundamental. Learning to love myself and grow my self-worth were pivotal in my transformation.
- Mindset and Beliefs: Our limits are often set by our beliefs. If we choose to believe in ourselves, we can achieve anything.
- Responsibility: Taking responsibility for our lives is essential for true change. Blaming others doesn’t help – we must look within and do the work.
- Forgiveness and Discernment: Both are necessary. While it’s important to forgive, we must also learn to protect ourselves and discern what’s best for us. Learning to hear and listen to my intuition or gut feelings was another wonderful lesson.
- Self-Care: Practicing self-care is crucial for overall well-being, longevity and ability to continue.
Through my journey, I discovered that transformation is possible for everyone. You have the strength within you to overcome any challenge and create the life you desire. Your journey starts with a single step. Take that step today, and keep moving forward, no matter how small the progress may seem.
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned on my journey is the incredible power of our mindset. Our minds are incredibly powerful, but they can also be our greatest limitation. Often, the biggest barriers we face are the ones we create in our own minds. If you desire something with all your being, the impossible can become possible.
Think about it: How many times have you told yourself, I can’t do this, or This is too hard? These thoughts create mental barriers that prevent us from achieving our full potential. But what if you could break those barriers? What if you could reframe your thinking and believe, truly believe, that you can achieve anything you set your mind to?
There’s a lot of scientific evidence that supports the idea that our beliefs shape our reality. When we focus our thoughts and energy on a goal, our brain starts to look for ways to make it happen. This is known as the reticular activating system – a network of neurons in our brain that helps us focus on what’s important and filter out the rest. By believing in your ability to achieve your goals, you activate this system to work in your favour.
Throughout history, there have been countless examples of individuals who achieved the impossible by believing in themselves and their dreams. Think of Thomas Edison, who failed thousands of times before inventing the light bulb, or Oprah Winfrey, who overcame a challenging childhood to become one of the most influential people in the world. Their stories remind us that determination and belief in oneself can turn the impossible into reality.
In my own life, there were many moments when I could have given up. Battling severe chronic fatigue syndrome, facing abuse, and becoming a single mother at a young age were all incredibly challenging. But I refused to let these circumstances define me. Instead, I chose to believe that I could create a better life for myself and my son. This belief drove me to work harder, push through obstacles, and ultimately achieve my goals.
As this is the first episode of ‘Conscious Transformation,’ I want to set my intentions clearly. My goal with this podcast is to help others survive, thrive, and live life to their fullest. I want to uplift and support you on your journey, sharing the lessons I’ve learned and connecting with others who have transformed their lives. It feels good to give, and this podcast is my way of giving back. I hope to share and connect with you, bringing insights from those who have made significant changes and can offer helpful guidance on how to transform our lives.
