Habits that change your life
I’m very focused on getting the most out of life and often look for ways to 10x or increase my:
- Happiness
- Health
- Fitness
- Money
- Love
- Excitement
- Opportunities…. Whatever it may be.
There are many patterns of behaviours that limit our experiences so if you are someone who would like to get things done, achieve more or improvement certain areas within your life then this is for you.
First lets focus on what holds people back.
- Many different ‘symptoms’ ultimately come from a lack of self belief
- Lack of personal responsibility
- Small expectations typically through conditioning
- Laziness – red herring as often ties to the above
1. Let’s focus on lack of self belief.
This component is one of the biggest hurdles as it has the capacity to cut off any attempts before you get started or even if you do, you may find yourself giving up before you’ve even finished!
The only real way of dealing with this is to stop putting other people on a pedestal and realise that you are at the centre of your world not someone who you may compare yourself against. We are all part of the same human race and if you were to do your research I am sure that you would find ample examples of people achieving through all circumstances and abilities.
Sometimes it takes reflecting inwardly and having an honest conversation with yourself to unpin the why’s behind your behaviours. Why do you feel the way you do. Why or when did that start happening? How or why did that start. When did you learn to do or think that way? Why have you chosen that belief and how does it benefit you now or in the past?
Then you need to give yourself a clean slate. Start afresh as you mean to continue. Start by making a commitment to yourself and practicing making and keeping commitments, so that you know if you say you are going to do x that x is what you will do. Don’t focus on the ‘how’ just yet as if there is a will, there is a way!
2. Lack of personal responsibility
If you are stuck in a situation that you don’t like or want then stop holding back from taking responsibility. By taking responsibility you actually
give yourself the key to getting out of the situation. It’s the biggest gift you could give yourself. Not only does it free you emotionally and mentally but it has the power to change your life.
When I was 13 I was very ill, in a wheelchair in constant pain and exhaustion, unable to read, write and had difficultly communicating for a period of 3 years. I was told by the doctors that I would not get better and would not walk again. Thankfully I was not about to give up hope. One day I realised that this was my world, that I was not a victim and that somehow I must have created the situation, in that same moment whilst feeling the sorrow, I realised that if I had created the illness or situation then I could create my health and happiness. So I took charge internally and my drive for freedom, health and happiness ultimately led me to recover.
Wherever you are in your life, whatever you want to achieve. Take responsibility for being where you are and then getting yourself to where you want to go
3. Small expectations.
Having unconscious small expectations for yourself actually builds the walls of your own prison or creates the ceiling of your opportunities, so making an effort to step outside of your comfort zone and undo your self set limitations can really help to broaden your opportunities and therefore your future achievements.
You will want to set goals that are large, lifetime goals. The reason for this is because setting small goals, and then achieving those goals in practice actually makes you realise that you should have really gone after what you really really wanted. Regardless of its perceived size, or difficulty.
Once you have managed the first 3 steps above you have created a good foundation for achieving your gaols.
Foundation
- Self belief
- 100% responsibility
- Expanding your goal expectations
So now it’s your time to take action and start defining and setting your goals!
Good luck and I wish you happy journeys!
